YOUR GUIDE TO PURCHASING OXO CONTAINERS

This post contains Amazon affiliate links.

First, what do I like so much about oxos that makes me recommend them to clients again and again?

Pros:

1)Easy availability including Amazon, Target and TJmaxx

2)Come in so many sizes

3)Great accessories including scoop that attaches to lid

4)Canister (not lids) are dishwasher safe

5)Tried and true

6)Easy to open/close, airtight

Cons:

Cover is a bit of a pain to wash (I usually just wipe them down with a damp paper towel)

Next question is:

What should I decant?

There’s really no right or wrong answer. Flour and sugar are my non-negotiables. Some like to decant other basic ingredients which include confectioners sugar and brown sugar etc . Some like to decant everything. If you can keep them clean and refill them whenever needed, enjoy! If washing containers and decanting isn’t going to happen then just decant flour and sugar.

In my opinion , dirty or empty containers isn't organized!!! Agree?

Below are my favorite sizes that I use most frequently:

  • 4.4 qt Flour 5 lb bag, large bag of rice or oats

  • 2.7 qt Sugar family snacks including pretzel and rice cakes

  • 1.7 qt A popular size for most things including breadcrumbs, rice, beans (2 bags) , barley (2 bags) cocoa, chocolate chips and smaller snacks like cookies,

  • 1.1qt It’s a bit smaller but also a great size for confectioners sugar , brown sugar, 1 bag beans, 1 bag of barley

  • Cereal canisters I love this easy to pour design.

3.4 (medium) fits most regular cereals

If you buy mostly large boxes go for the large cereal canisters.

Hope this helps cut the confusion. If you aren’t sure if you like decanting, why not start with 2 or 3 and see how it goes?
