Are you frustrated from organizing your kid’s books so many times only to find that it looks like a mess a few days later? So let’s get it done!
One way is to sort books is by color. It’s simple and pretty. ( Shown above )
Yet many people prefer to sort by categories. They don’t like the idea of splitting up a series of books because the covers have different colors .
WARNING: This isn’t a quick-fix solution. This method takes TIME but is so worthwhile !
Step 1:
Decide where you are keeping books. You can either have one central place or each category in a different place.
Tip: if you are short on space, don’t waste precious closet space on books, instead purchase a bookcase for your kids books .
Here are a few of my favorite bookcases :
Step 2:
Gather together the books from all over the house to the location the books will be going
Step 3:
Sort books by categories. Then assign each category a color. For example:
Board books red
Little kids orange
Chapter books yellow
Small chapter books green
Comics blue
Adult books pink
Magazines purple
Step 4:
Use color coding labels and put a label on each book according to its color.
Step 5: Put a piece of tape or library sticker over each label so it stays put!
Let’s just do it once and for all! You’ll be glad you did!
